Now, For, Something, (a wee bit) Dumb

I was pretty unmotivated during the holidays. When I say unmotivated I mean I watched a lot of television. And this time of year, television means movies.

So, I watched a lot of movies over the holidays. And I’ve scoured the world wide web and am fascinated that noone has brought the world’s attention to the fact that the beating of Michigan by Appalachian State in 2007 was predicted by the 2005 Adam Sandler comedy The Longest Yard.

I know, I’ve been on a Michigan football bender but hey – I don’t write blogs for other people.

I’m just going to let the video link and the wikipedia synopsis speak for themselves.

From Wikipedia (01/03/2011):

“In prison, the Warden asks Crewe to help the prison guards’ football team. After being roughed up a bit, Crewe – under threat of an extra 5 years in prison for attacking Captain Knauer (William Fichtner), aka blocking Captain Knauer’s baton from hitting him – decides to help him. He informs the warden that what his team needs is a tune-up game: a game where they play a team like Appalachian State and “kick the living shit out of ’em, and get their spirits up”. This gives the Warden an idea: Crewe, with the help of a fellow inmate, Caretaker (Chris Rock), will make a team out of the inmates for them to play as their tune-up game. He starts off with a poorly organized team, before being noticed by another prisoner, former NFL star Nate Scarborough (Burt Reynolds), who decides to help him by coaching the team.”

And watch the video starting at minute 6:00 – it’s all right there!!

Conspiracy theorists – have a field day! This one is free!

Where Am I?
